The Paper Plunge #14 - Tis the Season for A Different Kind of Fold

I usually don't stray too far from the traditional folding cards, but since the challenge over at The Paper Plunge was to come up with a "different kind of fold", I thought I'd try something different.  I didn't know where to start, so lo and behold, a friend of mine just happened to send me a pin from pinterest, and as I was scrolling through what she had sent me, I found this fold that I made for you today.  The fold that I CASED was by Amanda Bates over at The Craft Spa.  I wanted to do a different design, so I pulled out some of my DSP and went to work.  I was rather pleased with what I created.  I hope you like it too.

This is the outside of the card.  I wanted something to hold the card together, so I used the silver satin ribbon and tied a bow in the center.  It worked out perfectly.

Now, check out the inside ...

I'm still working on the lighting issue, so bear with me until I get it all figured out.  The dimensions of the card are 6" x 12" (when card is stretched out).  It wasn't that difficult as I thought it would be and it looks so much better in person.  The center tree was made using the dazzling diamonds glimmer paper, and the two outer trees are the silver glimmer paper.  The designer-series paper (DSP) I used for the rest of the card is from "all is calm" from Stampin' Up's 2014 holiday catalog.

So thanks to The Paper Plunge for challenging me to go out of the box and do something a bit different.  Maybe now I just might try some other folds and techniques to add to my collection.

Enjoy your day, and tis' the season to enjoy the wonders of the world.

Cheers!

  1. Helen, I love that card! What a great fold! Really, I'm going to have to figure that one out. It's similar to a fold I've done but then you've got that platform effect in the centre. Love it! Thinking outside the box really worked for this one. Thanks for sharing.

  2. Thank you, Heidi. I actually found some real nice detailed instructions over at Amanda Bates' The craft spa" site. She does a great job with the directions & showing you the sketch for the measurements. I'd love to see what you make if you choose to make one too. Cheers!
