Anything But a Card - Hootin' with Santa & Rudolph

Our challenge over at The Paper Plunge is "Anything But a Card".  Well, that's pretty easy.  I have a bunch of things I could have made for the challenge, but keeping in the spirit of the upcoming holidays, I decided to make an Owl and Santa out of Stampin' Up's Curvy Keepsake Box, and Rudolph from the Fry Box Die.  How cute is that?

The curvy keepsake box and fry box are my favorites.  There's so much you can do with them - the ideas are endless.

Here's what I made for The Paper Plunge.  Hope you enjoy them ...

Aren't they darling?  You can fill these treat boxes with goodies for the holidays, or ... you can use the Owl and Santa for a place setting at the dinner table.  A name card fits right between the handles and whola, and instant place card.

Well, thanks for stopping by.  I hope you'll join us over at The Paper Plunge.  We'd love to see what you've made.

Hugs!

Happy Birthday, Aileen

I can't believe it's our daughter, Aileen's birthday again.  Where did the time go?  It seems like as soon as October is upon us, it flies by so quickly and poof, it's November - then December.  I surely wish time would slow down during this time of the year.  I enjoy the beautiful fall foliage and the smell of falling leaves, and all the beautiful mums and pumpkins - it just warms my heart.  And then, it's the end of October and Aileen's birthday is here again.

I found a beautiful card that inspired me that was created by Diane Cavaness.  The card just caught my eye and I wanted to make that for Aileen's birthday card.  So I made it slightly different, but I love the way it turned out.  Let me know what you think.

I used the natural ivory card stock for this card, and I must say, it made all the difference.  Aileen liked her card, and I hope you do too.

Happy Birthday, my sweet heart!

Baby Announcement

I made some baby announcements for a friend whose daughter was having a baby boy, and she wanted something like the picture in the Stampin' Up catalog, page 80, if you care to see, and I made this announcement similar, but I used designer series paper on mine.  It came out cute, and she liked them.  Now, we just have to wait for the photograph to be inserted in the vellum on the front of the card and how cute will that be?  I didn't have a photograph to put in the card so you could see, but if you look closely, you will see how I cut out the top tab on the vellum so you could insert a photograph and are able to remove it easily as well.

It's simple, but cute.  Hope you like it!

Coloring Down the Lines - Filigree Framed

Happy Wednesday!  We're so glad you came back to visit us again and check out what we have for you this week.  The photographs we use are getting more modern, and they leave a lot to your imagination.

This week is no different.  Check out the photograph, along with the color pallet and see what you think.

The colors above are:  very vanilla, crisp cantaloupe, basic black, mossy meadow, and marina mist.  So using this as my base and the photograph above as my inspiration, here's what I came up with:

Recipe
Paper:  basic black, very vanilla
Ink:  crisp cantaloupe, marina mist, mossy meadow
Stamp Sets:  petite petals, for all things
Accessories:  labels collection framelits, filigree frame EF, striped EF, basic pearls, 1/8" basic black taffeta ribbon

I thought that since the photograph is simple and modern, I should make the card simple.

Carol always comes up with very pretty creations, no matter what the photograph is, so make sure if you didn't get here from her blog, you go back and check hers out.  Joni is after me, and hop on over to see what she's created as well.  They're all such talented ladies, and I'm fortunate to be part of this fabulous and creative team of designers.

Thanks for stopping by, and please keep visiting us.  We love to receive your comments.

Ciao!

Tag, You're it - Festival of Trees

I'm posting double today:  one for my blog and one for The Paper Plunge.  If you haven't seen our new blog, thepaperplunge.blogspot.com, please hop on over to check it out.  We'd love to have you post your creation there ... just make a card with a tag on it, or simply make a tag, whichever you choose.  How easy is that?  I hope you will show us what you've made ... it's a lot of fun!

So for this card, I made a full card, with a full tag on it.  That's it.  I like the way it turned out.  I used the "nordic noel" designer series paper, along with gold foil paper, and the lucky stars embossing folder.  Of course, I used the "festival of trees" stamp set and matching punch.  I'm pleased with the outcome.  I added just a bit of gold embossing and gold glimmer for the star.  Check it out ...

For the extra added touch, I made a bow from the 1" cherry cobbler sheer linen ribbon.  Topping off the sentiment, I added a touch of gold foil to the itty bitty banner framelit and there you have it.

So I do hope you will join us over at thepaperplunge and show us what wonderful work of art you'd like to share with us.

Cheers!!!!

Hello Fall Kitty!

I found this adorable card over at "Stamp with Annette" and I knew right away, I had to make it.  I made this card and adapted it for a birthday card for my aunt.  She loves cats, and she also loves Fall, just like I do.  I made another one for me, "Hello Fall".  How cute is this?  So here's my card.  Thanks to Annette ... what an adorable card!

Don't you love it?  It was easy to make, and I was thankful Annette had instructions on her blog.

See you tomorrow!!!

Coloring Down the Lines - Making Spirits Bright

I'm so happy to be back, making spirits bright!  Yes, mine!!!

This week's color pallet is pretty, but I must say, I had quite of a challenge coming up with something just from the photo.  I made a simple card, but it captured all the colors from the pallet.  That's always my goal, so I'm happy with it.

So, have you popped over her from Carol's blog?  If not, please make sure to hop on back to see what she's made for you this week.

Here's the photograph we used as inspiration, along with the color pallet.  Hummm, the photo alone didn't inspire me, but the colors did.

ok, so now that you see the colors and the photograph, here's what I created using this as my inspiration:

I used the "making spirits bright" and "work of art" stamp sets for this card.  I also selected the "all is calm snowflake" embellishment, along with the "in-color confetti embellishments" to add just a bit of interest to the card.  The ribbon is blue lagoon, and I think the card came together quite nicely.  Hope you like it.

Now, let's hop on over to Joni's blog and see what she made using the colors above.  It's always fun getting all sorts of ideas from everyone.  I hope you are inspired, and we're glad you stop by each week.

Happy Stamping!

I'm back

Hi, I'm back.  I've been traveling, and unfortunately, I had a slight mishap too.  I was leaving my hotel in Dallas to catch my flight home when I turned my ankle on some concrete steps, and saved myself from heading down the stairs, knees and head first.  I tore some ligaments in my left ankle/foot, so I'm wearing a boot.  All I can say is that it could have been worse.

I've missed creating too.  So I've had some time to get back into the swing of things, but not a lot. I've been working on some projects for a great escape weekend I'm going to at the end of the month, as well as some baby announcements for a friend.  In between, I have some birthdays, and of course, I have to make my co-workers Halloween treats.

So, stay tuned for some of my projects.  I'm so glad to be back!!!
