Team Swap - Wonderland

For our team meeting this past week, our focus was on Christmas. I found a card on Pinterest that I just loved, so I made a card similar (didn't want to case it totally) that I just loved. Unfortunately, I didn't have the name of the person who created it to give them credit.

Here's my version of the card I loved:

The gold embossing on black makes quite a statement, and I love the snowflakes in the background. I made some extras so I can give them out as Christmas Cards this year as well.

Coloring Down the Lines - Build a Birthday

It's blog time again, and our coloring down the lines challenge seemed to come easy this week. Go figure! Sometimes the colors I love the most are so difficult to create a design for, but the ones that are variations of colors just flow. This one did just that. I didn't have to think too hard, and I was finished before you know it.

Let's check out the photograph and color pallet first.

 Now, looking at the photograph, what would you have designed for the challenge this week? Do you want to see what I made? Yes, ok, I won't make you wait .... here it is:

I added some touches to the card by coloring a satin rose using rose red, and lined the cake plate with tip top taupe lace ribbon. I think the lace gave it just the right effect I was looking for.

Ashley's Birthday Card

It's always nice making cards for people, and this time was no different. Our son Tj's girlfriend Ashley's birthday was Monday, and I wanted to make her something special. I found a card that I was using for inspiration, and how funny, the card never looks anything like the inspirational card. That's ok because I love originality.

For Ashley's card, I chose blackberry bliss as the color I wanted to use. I ended up taking the "into the woods" designer series paper and cut a circle around a bunch of flowers, and the card blossomed from there.  Take a look:

I took a couple of paper flowers that were hand made by another demonstrator, and I popped them onto the card for some added drama.  It totally made the card. Below is the inside of the card.

So, what do you think? My son liked it, and I hope Ashley did too.

Sympathy for a Friend - Timeless Elegance

I had to make a sympathy card for a friend of mine who lost her father.  She told me he lived a great life, and it was his time.  Still, it's always hard to lose a parent, or loved one, for that matter.

I wanted to make something nice, and I selected the "timeless elegance" paper and worked the rest of the card around the paper.  I wasn't thinking of using black, but it all came together.

Here's the card I made for my friend:

I didn't think I would like the paper as much as I do.  It's subtle, but elegant, just like the name:  Timeless Elegance.

It just so happens that a co-worker also lost a loved one, so I made two cards.  I think I just might make some more to have on hand, with a little twist on each.

The Paper Plunge #48 - Country Fair Time

Summer and Fall are the best time for Country Fairs.  Living somewhat in the country myself, I do enjoy the all the sites and sounds of fairs.

I wasn't sure what I was going to do for the challenge, so I just decided to make a card that featured fruit.  There's always fruit at fairs, so I thought it appropriate.

Here's the card I made for the Plunge challenge this week:

The stamp set used for this card is "market fresh".  The wood background (designer series paper) added the perfect touch to the rest of the card - making it "country".

Coloring Down the Lines - Sheltering Tree

Hello stampers!  It's blog time again, and the colors this week are very pretty.  I wasn't sure which way to go with this one, and since I've had a long day and didn't get home from home until late, I made a simple card this time.  Let's check out the color pallet first, then I'll show you my card.

Now, here's my card for you this week.

I placed the focus on this card to blackberry bliss.  Of course, it's one of my favorite colors!  I hope to do more Fall cards using bbb, so stay tuned.

Woodland Fall Scene

Today is my birthday, and I'm away at a weekend stamping retreat.  How fun is that?   It's also my mother's birthday, but she is no longer with us and every year when it's our birthday, I miss her even more.  I'm hoping to come home with lots to share with you ... so I do hope you'll stop back to check them out.

I made this card using the woodlands textured embossing folder.  It's really a nice folder, and if you don't own it, think about purchasing it.  There's a lot you can make with it.

Here's a Fall scene that I made.  It was pretty easy, and the background makes an impact on the entire card.

The pumpkin is from a retired stamp set, and the leaves that the pumpkin is sitting on is from the bird punch.  Hope you like the card.  I think I want to do another card using the woodlands folder, but this time, make a spooky Halloween card.  Oh la la.
