Sympathy for Teo

One of my co-workers, Teo, lost his sister.  What a sad time, losing a sibling at a young age.  It's very hard losing a parent, but I just couldn't imagine a sibling, or a child.  So I wanted to let him know how much I care and that I'm thinking of him, so I went to work making a sympathy card.  This is what I came up with for him:

Recipe
Paper:  whisper white, smoky slate, eastern elegance DSP
Ink:  smoky slate, crushed curry
Stamp Sets:  love & sympathy (inside), papillon potpourri (inside), simply sketched
Accessories:  deco label framelits, butterfly punches (inside), 5/8" white satin ribbon

I added the butterflies on the inside, layering them using the crushed curry and smoky slate inks.  I like the way they turned out, and it is simple enough that makes a statement, and yet is so serene.  I hope the card blesses him in knowing how much people do care.

Thank you for stopping by, and I hope you like the card.

Chalk Talk Birthday

This is the first time I've used the chalk talk framelits, so I wasn't sure what was going to come about.  I had an idea in mind, buy I just couldn't make it work with the colors I selected.  So, back to the drawing board again I went until I got it to where I was somewhat satisfied.  It's not exactly what I wanted it to look like, since I would have loved to CASE Chat's design, but didn't want to exactly.  Well, hers is just so pretty, that I think I will do just that and use the same colors she did in her design.

Anyway, here's what I came up with, using Chat's design as inspiration.

It's a happy card, at least, and I now have a birthday card ready for when I need one.  I have to make a birthday card for my Aunt, who's birthday is October 1, so I better get busy.

Until tomorrow, happy stamping!

Trick or Treat Shadow Box

Halloween is a fun time of year, and since I love making stuff for this time of year, I thought I'd make a shadow box for Halloween.  It turned out really cute, and I think I'm going to take it to work and hang it in my office.  It's good advertising, and what better way to show off my handiwork?  I love what I do, and love sharing it too.  I hope you do too.

I love the shadow box vs. a regular frame.  It adds a lot of dimension and makes the pictures stand out.  I also used dimensionals on all the layers so they really pop.  Wait till you see the one I made with the snowflakes ... stay tuned.

Thankful for You

This is the time of year where we give thanks for all we have, our families, friends, jobs, and all that God has given us.  It's nice to share that sentiment with those we love, and it doesn't have to be just this time of year to do so.

Stampin' Up came out with some new thinlits, and "thankful" is one of them.  I made this card and thought it would be perfect to send to my family and friends.  Hope you like it too.

I love the sweater weather designer series paper that Stampin' Up has for Fall.  I used it on this card.  There's something about sweaters and cool weather too.  Just fun!

So Kind of You

Butterflies - who doesn't love butterflies?  They are so light, free, and pretty.  I love watching them flutter about and check out all the flowers.  Maybe next year, I'll set out the butterfly house I made a few years ago in hopes of attracting more to my yard.  I have the flowers, so maybe they'll enjoy the butterfly house too.

Anyway, I've made a card with butterflies on it.  Happy, free, and sweet and kind.

Thanks for stopping by!

Coloring Down the Lines - Always Artichoke

Always artichoke - that's the key color in this week's blog hop.  Now, you can either pair it up with wisteria wonder and crumb cake, or so saffron and cajun craze.  I chose the combination of so saffron and cajun craze because it just reminds me of Fall.  It's such a pretty time of year, so naturally, I look for fun stuff to make, and this seemed very fitting.

Have you been over at Carol's blog prior to arriving here?  If not, don't forget to see what she's done for us this week.   I wanted to try something slightly different, and I'm still on the fence about it, so I'd love to hear what you think.

Recipe
Paper:  always artichoke, very vanilla
Ink:  always artichoke, cajun craze, so saffron
Stamp Sets:  gorgeous grunge, magnificent maple, petite pairs
Accessories:  antique trinkets, hemp twine, designer frames rectangle EF, and pretty print EF

I stamped the magnificent maple onto very vanilla card stock, then I took so saffron and used a dauber to rub the color through the leaf for that dual tone effect.  You can see it better in person, and I think next time, I'll blend the colors together using a gradient approach.  I need to practice that a bit more.  It makes creations more interesting.

Well, enough about me.  Let's pop on over to Joni's blog and see what she's done.  Usually between Carol and Joni, they have the color blending down to a science.  Maybe with enough practice, I'll get that good too.

Thanks for stopping by, and please feel free to leave your comments.  They mean a lot to me.  Cheers!

So Grateful There's You!

When you need or want a card to tell someone how grateful you are, you never seem to have one.  Well, I've made one just for that occasion.  I know I'll need one soon, so it's best to stock up.  I can't wait to give it to that special person.

It's a simple card to make, and I might make some others, just in different colors.  Love the chalk talk!

Unit tomorrow, happy stamping!
