Coloring Down the Lines - Back to School Basics

As Summer is nearing an end (insert sad face), it's the start of a new school year for children and young adults alike.

When you think of going back to school, what do you usually think of? Books, pens, pencils, crayons .. ah, yes, the colors of crayons. I call this card, back to school basics.  We were to use the following colors:  daffodil delight, real red, night of navy, and cucumber crush. So here's my card for this week:

My card is simple, but covers the basics!

Hope you enjoyed my card. Now don't forget to hop backward one to see what Robbie of Inkedx2 made for you, and then, hop one forward to check out Joni's blog of Joniinthespotlightstamping. You'll never be disappointed.

Ciao for now!

Thoughtful Branches

Have you seen the new stamp and framelit bundle Thoughtful Branches? Pinterest is bursting with different ways to use this stamp set, so don't forget to check them all out. There's so much you can do with it, and I will be sharing my cards with you too.

Here's my first card using the stamp set.

It's simple, but cute. I sponged the sky using marina mist, as well as the grass using old olive. The leaves are made using peekaboo peach, then stamped with cherry cobbler. I doubled the leaves to pop them out a bit, then adhered them with dimensionals. And there you have it!

Stay tuned for some "sneak peek" creations I'll have for you from the new Stampin' Up Holiday Catalog. Oh just wait until you see all the cute, cute stamp sets and bundles. You will melt in your chair.

Until then, have an enjoyable day!

Coloring Down the Lines - Artistic Purples

Hello again. It's shades of purple week, so I created a card for you using wisteria wonder, perfect plum, elegant eggplant. Working with monochromatic sometimes becomes a challenge, especially choosing your dominant color and add the other colors. But after this challenge, I think I'm good at figuring it out.

Here's what I created for you this week.

Depending on where you've started on our blog, make sure you check all of us out. Ahead of me is Amanda at Our Crafty Playdate, and she always has a different perspective on mono colors. Joni is up next at Joni in the Spotlight Stamping, and she has a knack for these types of challenges as well. So don't forget to hop all the way through to see what everyone made for you.

Thanks for checking us out this week. Stay tuned for next week's blog. We're so glad to have you visit.

Coloring Down the Lines - Shades of Red

This week's blog hop is using shades of red. Now I have to say, this one was a bit tough for me. I struggled a bit and trying to figure out which red to use for what didn't come easy.

If you've arrived here from Amanda's blog, then you saw how she interprets shades of red. I sure wish I could do it better, but it's not my thing. Also, Joni always has some great ideas and never disappoints. So don't forget to hop on to her blog next.

Here's what I created this week. It's not bad, but not my best work. I know .. I shouldn't be hard on myself, but it is what it is.

Here you go ...

The stamp sets I used for this challenge were first sight and petite petals. I used basic pearls for the center of the flowers and added cherry cobbler bakers twine to jazz it up.  If you're wondering which shades of red I used, I used melon mambo (yes, it's a little bit pink, but in the red family), cherry cobbler, and real red.

Well, that's it for today. See you again soon.

Happy Birthday, Tom

Monday was my husband's birthday. I always struggle on what card to make him, as he loves boating and sailing, but you can only make so many cards with the same theme, so I decided to break out of the box for this one.

I went for the "Sweet Cupcake" stamp set. I love the swirly icing and although it took me a bit just to master the coloring I wanted, I love the result. Needless to say, Tom liked the card. That makes me happy to.

Here's the card I created for my hubby:

And there you have it. Time to start making more cards. Stay tuned ....

How About Some Just Desserts

I saw a card using this stamp set and just had to have it. I know it's not Stampin' Up, but it was too cute to pass up. It's called Just Desserts by Papertrey Ink. I know I'll use this quite a bit.

As I mentioned in one of my previous blogs, I am the card maker for my department at work, and this card turned out pretty awesome. I just wanted to share it with you.

Doesn't the cake look real and it wants to pop off the card? It looks so yummy, and the center looks like chocolate mousse. Let's see what our other co-worker, Monica, makes for Susan's cake tomorrow. Since Susan loves chocolate, I'm guessing chocolate it is. Yummy!

Cheers!

Coloring Down the Lines - Yellow Monochromatic MixUp

This month's blog hop is a little different than our others. We've decided to do a monochromatic mix up. It doesn't seem that hard, but when you sit down and try and come up with something, hummm, I guess that's why they call it a challenge.

Today's challenge is using the colors of yellow. As I figured out what I wanted to make, it took me a bit to put it together. I'm not sure how I feel about the design I came up with, but I'm sure I could refine it a little and see what else I can do with it.

If you've arrived here from Robbie's blog, then you've started from the beginning. Right after this, don't forget to hop on over to check out what Joni made for you using wonderful yellow.

Here we go ... and here's what I made for you this week:

Stamp Sets: moroccan nights, timeless textures
Cardstock: whisper white, delightful dijon
Inks:  daffodil delight, so saffron, delightful dijon
Accessories: candy dot

I also tried this technique without the middle section of delightful dijon and I liked it a lot, but wasn't sure if this would show up better, so that's why I decided to go with it. I just may try something else next time and see what happens.

Thanks for stopping by. Hope to see you back again soon.
